At a race once in Cedar Rapids, Iowa a stock engine belonging to Red Rursch broke off an ear on prop as he was going out to race. Somehow it came out of the water and went backwards, right by my ear and landing in the parking lot behind us about 100 feet. Talk about scary.

in the Early '80s I heard the following...

Seems that a racer is towed in after a flip and is in the pits lamenting that he lost the blade off his best prop when a spectator walks up and says i don't know what this is but it flew off you boat when you crashed, and hands him the missing blade. The astonished racer asks where did you find that? Oh, it flew over our heads and landed in the parking lot behind us was the reply...

Don't know where or when it happened, if the is a Region 6 urban legend or pure bs

            Props

Nope...you are not the only one that worries about losing a prop blade and having the thing come loose and hit somebody. Hope it never happens.

              Newburg

Yah...I tend not to run anything to special there...but my main goal running there this weekend is to try and find something decent in my prop box...I have about 18 (well 17 now) props, most of which are not worth throwing away. But its strange...I have been running at Newburg for 20 years, and have never hit so much as a twig. The people that man the course boats do a great job picking up stumps and stuff. That being said...you just watch. The fabulous prop god will reach down and smite me with his heavy hand and cause me to grenade lower unit, as well as powerhead and while that is hapening I will dump hard and tear sponson off new boat. But, the good news is....we will have 2 D stock hydros for the fire on saturday night...what a pleasant thought...

Day late and a dime short category ... but!

Kitsap results have been posted on the Columbia Outboard Racing Association site (C.O.R.A.) for several days now ...http://www.harborbeacon.com/cora.shtml

PS: Besides that it's a pretty decent site ... be sure to save as a favorite!

                            Reverse misfortune

Hi out there in raceland, I have a story about being on the receiving end of someone elses bad luck with props. Have to go back many years now....... Hinton Nationals in 1969, JSH, Janis Lee had the fastest JSH anywhere but I got the best start in heat one and managed to stay barely in front of her. Heat 2 she got the start and was running away........until she hit something in the water. This was right after Hurricane Camille and the river was full of crap, wood, coal dust, you name it. I wondered what was going on when I started gaining and passed by. Later we saw that she threw part of a blade on her prop costing a national title.

They were the first to try these very large diameter (by J standards) wheels and jack the motor really high (2 blade back then).
