  • Merc 25XS

I was just wondering why every time someone post a Merc 25XS for sale its like the second coming of Christ and people jump all over them like gold.

Is the 25XS a hot class some place in the mid west or something becuase I have'nt seen a full class of 25XS motors in over ten years or more here on the east coast.

Just wondering why its such a hot little motor when the class seems to be dead in all but a few small pockets across the country.

Or am I dead wrong and they run full fields of 25XS motors some place I am not aware of ?

    Thanks

From personal experience, 25ssh gets about 5 or more entries per race in Canada.

      25xs in region 3

I have one and like it. We have been getting a fair turn out at Millville if the Long Island guys can get here. Last week I was disappointed that we did not get to run, only 2 of us there. I'm hoping for at least 7 boats in October.

I think we have been seeing some renewed interest in both 25 stock and mod here in the east

        Antique take over

There was close to 300 engines produced to the best of my recollection. People are hanging on to them and not racing. Same for the 44XS.
When one comes available we are trying to get them into the hands of real drivers.

haha, that's what my dad is doing!
He told me, "Sweetie, I'm racing your inheritance."
My response: "Well, you better win then!"
..So I'm saving up my own money.

I'm the guy that will be RACING Charlie13's Merc 25XS. My racing partner and I have 2 others for our Hydro's. I wanted another one that I could "un-restrict" for the new Sorensen runabout that I'm just finishing building. Our 25XS engines are for racing. I love the class because at 170 lbs I'm a little heavy for A/B and I like the smaller boats that I can lift on/off the trailer when the only one around to help is my wife/pitcrew! By the way we use the same boats for 25Mod running our 22ci Mercs! Mike Marshall, Raceboat61-S

                    25xs

                    Good News!
Looks like Standish is going to be a strong turn out for the 25's. I have a tennative count of 9 or 10 Mercs and 2 Hot Rods so far. This doesn't include anyone from south or west of Long Island. If the boats show up from upper region 2 and region 3 we could be in for eliminations!!!

                        Hot Rods

The Hot Rods I know of right now are - Howie (Flip) Pickerell 86-N and Dave (Moon Child) W. Young 95-N with one of Howie's engines. We also have a few 15 CI rods for "BSH". 25 Mercs are - Davey Jones, Annette Weber, Ralph Potter (if he is feeling OK), Joe Kent, Doug Pearsall, Dick Duncan, Don Hurd, Shawn Cavanaugh, Eric Peterson (if he gets it together) and myself. Come on up Mike T... would really like to see Brian Rossman and Dave Scott there with some of the northern guys. I guess we are putting a dent in all of the rumors that the class is a dead issue. I personally like the "freight train effect" - Call Wings-N-Things to start you putting your own NEW engine together. For now it takes awhile to get all of the parts together until we can afford to have the stuff waiting on the shelf. No big bucks in our Drinking Buddies Marine budget.

You have Dave Young 95N and Dave Young 94N in the same heats? Haha. That sounds tough to not get confused!

Congrats on the leg work required to bring the numbers up! Great to see some people (along with the other motor brands) working so hard regardless of the nay sayers.

                            Where is Standish located?
Can't seem to navigate the --NEW-- APBA web-site/race sched. Sanction #?
Albany,Watertown, and Crystal lake are tenative on my sched.and kind'a a stretch from Erie,Pa. But might try to roll it into a run to Beth's home town in Conneticut if close.
Just bought a 1989, 1-ton Dodge "Duelie" with Cu(m)min's for the long haul race's. Look'n for a truck camper with air/ $hit-shower-n-shave (for BETH ).
Can't feed the motorhome on these long runs.

Hey Steve! You should talk to Jim Misener... he's selling his pickup truck camper as he just bought a motorhome. Maybe pick it up on the Waterford weekend. The price I heard sound pretty cheap and it's Cnd $$ Border wouldn't know it wasn't on your truck when you left home...
