Hopefully I'll be ready this time. Mike is not too far away and he's offered to help me get setup. I learned a lot at Waterford watching the races, particularly the starts. Thanks again to all for the help and those organizing the race. Dave Scott....nice work on the lower unit, etc... You guys are great.

Glad to hear Scott is ok.

      Hey Dave,

Remember there is no oil in that lower unit and the cover nut is NOT tight. So do not run it until mike is with you if you can avold the temptation, I wish I was closer to help you out..

      regards,

It is tempting but I'll wait until I get it to Mike's place. I was planning on picking up some Quicksilver synthetic lower unit gear lube at the local marina. Will that do the trick or do you recommend something else?

reminds me... anyone who needs items delivered to Tweed, please email rick@fralickboats.com or call 613-471-4103 as Rick wont have the motorhome there. We'll have selected stuff, but if there is something specific, let us know.

He can get gaskets and engines parts now too. Pretty much full marine accessory access now.

Yeah! For sure! I sanded down the patches on the ASR... so it will at least float once a little east system is on it. I've got lots going on until Tweed but I'll have the ASR there even if it isn't pretty.

I heard Mike Noonan bought an ASR outfit. Don't know what he got yet and I doubt he'll be ready to go for Tweed, but you never know!

With Mike Werner practicing in AXSR when he can next year is shaping up to be fun again in ASR!

                  See ya at Tweed Al!

Rumour has it Tweed is donating a smash up derby car entry to a racer of the Ottawa Valley's Boat Clubs choice!! Don't miss this people! Going to be a fun! Make a banner with your kids or something to cheer on the fish out of water!

We have 4 ASR's in Ontario. Also Abbott's usually show up with one and Al is coming from the edge of the earth, and if Fishers Landing is supporting the race there are usuallly a couple there. We have a new Ontario racer in ASR too but I doubt he's ready to race yet as he just purchased the boat on the weekend.

ASH, we have 10 or so? Again depends on the race/scheule between ASH/AXSH/JH. Would have 6-7 likely for sure regardless of schedule.

Have you looked on a map though Tweed, Ontario and NJ are a long way apart unless you're hunting for points or something. Or maybe you just want to take a holiday up here and enjoy the landscape. Glad to have you anyway if you decide to come! I'm sure OVPBC will be a great host!

It's been a long time since a sanctioned race has been held at Tweed, so not sure how they setup the course/clock and such.

yeah, someone buy that! Come have some fun! Dan spanked everyone at Waterford with it.

If you find ASH too big a jump from J or AX classes ASR is the perfect home for you. Little slower, few less boats, handles the wind and rougher water better. Being a little over weight in the class is not such a hindrince.

                              Thanks for input Andrew 4CE

Also, any problem getting over border with rigs? Probably should not bring gas in cans? It's not that far of trip about 71/2 hrs.
                              Thanks Again,

US guys could answer better, but I've never heard of anyone having a problem in recent years.

a few notes I do know:
                                - gas can be brought in proper gas cans. They may not be in the passenger area of your vehicle.
                                - bring a print out of the sanction for the race you are attending, not required, but can be handy.
                                - be polite
                                - no weapons allowed
                                - no radar/laser detectors allowed

                                link with some useful info:
                                http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/vacation/kbyg/do"c"u"m"ents_needed.xml
cut and paste this and remove the " in the word do"c"u"m"ents

If you can get to this US gov website with the link, you'll see you don't need a passport going over land borders until Jan 1, 2008.

For any racer thinking of traveling outside of the USA next year... may as well start getting your passport now so you can up and enjoy some Canadian hostpitality next year!!

                                edit: fixed typo in link
