    My First Racing Engine

I still have my first racing engine, a KG4 that Roy Miner rebuilt for me in 1973 when he lived in Azusa, California. As a teenager I couldn't understand why I had to buy an engine that was manufactured before I was born to be able to race.....

B Classic Hydro ran last summer at Williamsport, PA. There were four boats thanks to Canadian entries. It was the first time in almost 30 years that I heard the sound of so many Merc 20H's running together. >>THAT<< was special, and it brought back memories.

                  Classic Outboard Stuff.............

I have two KG-4H's; one is matching numbers ( restored by John Kwast from Ontario, Canada ) and one restored by Herman Oliver in Virginia. The one that Herman did once belonged to Gary Pond's uncle, Bob Lee. Bob raced with my Dad back in the late 50's. I also built a replica of an A Stock Hydro that my Dad built and raced back then that I take to shows. I haven't had this in the water yet, but maybe we can get it wet this year. I hope to take the boat and motors to the Mount Dora meet in Florida in March and the big Antique Raceboat Regatta in Clayton, New York in August.

I have a 6N HR. I last raced 1973 in local club races around Algonac and Port Huron, MI and Wallaceburg, On.ca I have a small varied collection of service motors, a Madcap runabout and an old Aerowing that has been well butchered to make float again. Cooper J and Lee Holland helped me reassemble the Hot Rod to run again.

Currently, I have two KG-4's, enough parts to put two 20-H's together, which is going to happen this winter so I can race AMR with them this summer, one 30-H mod, my old 60-J Merc. and my old J Hot Rod. Not to mention I still have my old round nosed Z-Craft J hydro.
