APBA-AOF Kilometer Time Trials

Every spring region 11 holds a kilometer time trials event. This year we are pleased to welcome AOF as a co-host.

It is my understanding that AOF has just recently allowed a kilo record into their record books. So since there currently are no kilo records, any AOF member who shows up, and makes the fastest run in a particular AOF class, owns an AOF RECORD!

The dates are March 5-6, 2006. The location is Oroville, CA, which is about 1 hour north of Sacramento.

This is the first time AOF has been involved in a California race, and we welcome their members to come find out how fast their boat really is. Since we have never done this before, the event will be somewhat of a work in progress, but Connie and I are both confident it will work.

This is very exciting. I have recieved a call from one racer from north of Callifornia who will be stopping by on his way to the Winter Nationals. What a life!
AOF straightaway records have always been 1/4 mile. We have not gotten rid of the 1/4 mie, so don't frett if you have site that a Kilo won't work on. We have just added the Kilo, and another chance to hold a similar record to APBA. We are slowly working, as a national organization, to getting our tech rules as close to APBA's as we can, while still maintaining our own identity. Combinations of classes and engines will probably soon be the major differences. AOF does a better job of fewer classes than does APBA, in my opinion.
So, plan to attend and watch for more details.

Oroville results

The first leg of the Oroville 100 started at 2:30 pm on Saturday. With 17 starters.

"The Oroville 100, If you missed it you missed a great race. Varied conditions from VERY big water near the dam to wide open running across the south end. Arron had the right boat and ran away. "

One boat showed, but broke while testing.

Sunday morning there was wind & rain, with much more of it in the forcast.(offshore boats would have worked well) The race comittee canceled day two. Everyone was able to get home early.

One APBA kilo record:

Region 11 kilo record:
Cracker Box P-111, Richard Rucki 87.600 mph

Is that the correct speed for the 125CCR APBA Kilo record ? That seems a bit slow for a 125... ???

The slow speed was probably due to the fact they had terrible water. With good water it would have been about 70+mph.

Tim, you are correct. The water was horrible, and Brian's engine would not take the pipe. The next run he burned a piston.

I have known Bryan for quite a while now, and I was thinking he might be skerd to pull the pipe............ hehehehe. Maybe not, he certainly pushed the throttle on his SEH (FEH) in Mod.

So Bryan, how does it feel to set the Kilo at J speeds ? sorry man, could not resist. Long ways to travel and money on a piston, but still....... sounds funny.

What was the order of finish per boat not class, if anyone knows that,or was each class started individualy?

It means the motor wanted to stop running with the pipe extended.

It means the motor wanted to stop running with the pipe extended.

Not extended....

It means, when he tried to slide the pipe "up", the motor wanted to fall on it's face (decreased performance). Therefore, he was lacking the top end power band of the motor.
