  • Corner Judges

How about some pros & cons here.
Wireless cams have become CHEAP. What if we used helium balloons with a cam anchored to a bouy well inside of each corner. one or two people could watch the corners from an ovehead view. it could feed to a vcr or laptop and record the corners. lol i think it might be neccesary to record because i am sure more calls will be made due to the improved view of the corners.
just a thought ( maybe to much time on my hands lol) what do you all think?

    Cool!

See wild, off course race boat slice through helium balloon line, watch corner cam float off into the nearest jetstream!

I've thought of using a camera like that for entertainment video ... I'm pretty certain it would take 2 or 3 anchor strings to stablize the balloon for any decent pictures to start with .... if there was anything more than a puff of breeze I doubt there would be much useable video ... the camera would be twisting and jerking around all the time

Not only is there a chance that the camera will end up in OZ .... it might end up in the water, too.

          Well . . .

ypou could waterproof the camera and add a float to save the camera's demise in the briny deep. As for floating away, I have a solution. A designated "shooter." Station the DS at a good vatage point, arm DS with a .22 and issues orders to shoot the frigging balloon should it break loose!

            corners and chopping

I dont know know were it would be much help as far as judging goes? An intentional chop is not real hard to see for a turn judge. The boats have to be far enough apart to cheat like that... If a guy on your inside cant stick the pins... or saw the booies as it's called, he's going to take evreyone on his outside out into the cat tails...Like it or not..lol..Either way The only thing there is to look for as chopping. and you can see that a mile away. Probably get some cool pics though. I found personally that being calm at top speed, and confident in my equiptment from a lot of testing allowed me to pay more attention to the other drivers and made things a lot safer I think a lot of accidents happen as a result of overstimulation and a lack of attention. And lets face it ... the corners are were that shows the most.
Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most.

              On board boat cams

Out here, in DSH we have the Celebrated Meatball-Cam, carried aboard Dave Anderson's 56-R at most all races. We love the shot of the 13-V at Lake Lawrence washing off his camera lens.
