Dave and the plugs he made is probably your best bet. I put out a similar request last year for a cowling set and by pure luck a fellow racer had a used-only-once original Merc Challenge cowl. Also, if I remember correctly, I bought Harrington’s last cowl (of 50 he had made) a few years ago.

About 15 years ago I made a plug for a 44XS cowl.....will see if I can located it. Made both cowl and face place out of fiberglass......

I believe it was Ed Harrington from Michigan. I got one from him but it was long ago and I have no info to contact him, sorry.
