Dave, check with Abby Pond, CVRA Commodore, abbylp4@gmail.com, about whether Antiques are truly on the schedule for the Hallowee'en regatta at Tabor City, NC. The last I recently heard on the grapevine (Chick Larose) is that Antiques are on the schedule. Some of us lobbied hard to get them on it. It would be a shame if the Antiquers fail to show up then in force. It's a fun regatta with a great potluck supper and a clownish costume show. Steve Dunn (Race Chairman) stonewalls email, so Abby is your best bet for good info, until whenever the sanction circular comes out.

The course is a challenging tight oval on a small, well-protected lake. Starts are tricky because of no backspace to mill. You need to time your runup from your last turn into the infield across or around the course to get around the upper turn just in time. The clock is an easy-to-read electric digital display with quite a short runup by the time you're able to see it The run to the 1st turn is sufficiently long to get sorted out. You'll reach max speed probably only on the backstretch.

Four buoys are in the upper turn, but it is still rather tight. The first (lower) turn is more generous.

Spoke with Abby at Top O Mich and she said that to make sure I should get in touch with Steve Dunn. We have plane tickets bought and rooms being rented. Should have at least five of all classes maybe more with the hopeful Florida contingent. Just trying to be sure as it would be a big disapointment to not get on the ticket. Lots of plans are made and all are looking forward to being there. Thank you

What did Steve say about whether the Antiques are on the Tabor City schedule?

He said he would try to get them on the schedule and call me back today or tomorrow. I've already talked to Abby amd to Jerry Davids so it should be okay
