Curious Questions Regarding A Few APBA Classes

Just a few curious questions:

What exactly are the differences (if any at all) between the APBA A Stock class, the APBA 200cc Modified class (the old Formula A class, correct?) and the APBA K PRO class? Are the speeds very similar, etc.? I know there are some weight limit differences (K PRO having no weight limit.) I know I could look it up in depth via the APBA rule books but just looking for a quick and easy answer from folks in the know.

Also.. in the APBA 25SS Runabout class.. is the Stock Yamato 80 still a legal motor? And does the 25XS use a restricter plate in both Runabout and Hydro?

For 25SSR the Yamato 102&302 are both legal motors with a restrictor plate. The 25XS is not ran with a restrictor. Great class to race, have raced it for several years now with a Mercury

Thank you. Had heard years ago that the 25XS had to use a restrictor plate but never really looked more into it. Is the Stock Yamato 80 still allowed in the class?

'A' stock is now dominated by the Sidewinder. The OMC and Merc are legal but not competitive. Top end probably 60 with tons of corner speed.
200Mod is the modified OMC. Runs around 59 mph
K Pro is the stock OMC. Not sure what rules there are on set up restrictions. Probably running 57 or so.

The Yamato 80 is still legal in 25ssR

Thank you kindly for the response. Much appreciated. The 200 Mod.. what exactly is modified? I witnessed this class race a few times some years back and visually it just looked like A Stocks. (Same boats and motors I saw racing A Stock earlier in the schedule just being called a different class)

Thank y'all for the responses so far. I'm doing a little project currently to gage some class combination ideas that would work for a possible "one of a kind/one off" event for the distant future. These few classes had a me a little puzzled.

Hate to point it out, but the Yamato 80 is no longer allowed in a runabout class in stock. I learned this the year after I bought one to run at Indian River. At least I got to use it once.......

How come the 2017 Stock Outboard Tech Manual on page 14 still lists 25ss engine legal in 25ss hydro? I know nobody who knows would not put an SS against a SX so why is it still there?

25SSH - Mercury 25SS, Mercury & Mariner 25XS w/o restrictor, Hot Rod 20 ci & Sidewinder 20s

Kpro is the pro division beginner class, engine is low, no weight restriction, and an age out (cant run class past 16?) stock omc, 200 mod uses the omc A type engine but there are some mods allowed, I think the engine height is up @1", A stock you can use the merc, ome or sidewinder with height and weight breaks given. Biggest thing is that the 3 divisions of outboards have a place for the OMC to run

John....K-pro is a STOCK OMC run at 1-3/4"....( in USTS under 11 they have a restrictor plate)

The 80 will either become a 350ccMod engine or just get run for fun at antique meets here and there. My son Kyle has been eyeballing it for a while......

If it ever changes though, you will be first on the list.

Runabouts with Y-80's are welcome in Canada at the TORC and OVPC events (no APBA points however). We can't be picky with limited numbers of CSR's although the class is building.
