J Michael Kelly won the C Mod hydro by placing a 1st and a second. Braxton Miller took the second spot wth a first and fifth. Bryan Palmquest placed third. There 20 entries from all over the US. Braxton was in the turn in second place but rode Kelly's rooster and stood it up. Braxton had the fastest time of the 6 heats, but any of 6 drivers could have won the race of the century. Kelly was just the best starter. Dean Holbart's Dart Craft was quick out of the turns while Braxton had top in speed.

2017 Mod and Pro nationals was a fun and filled weekend with great racing heats of competition, congrats to all that attended for those who did not for what ever reason you missed out on a great race, and fun time! It shows how if the outboard divisions work together what a great show and great racing can be accomplished. I would also like to thank the race management team of IOA for their hard work and efforts to pull this race together and Josh and his officials for a job well done.
Congrats also to the region 10 racers and crews that made the trip to compete, 5 national championships and many 2nd and 3rd place finishers and if for not a couple of hard luck issues there could have been 2 or 3 more champions from Region10.
I hope we will see all the Mod guys and Gals at Moses Lake in 2018 along with the Stock guys and gals. Preparations are already going on by Ana and her team of SOA members to show case another great National in the great Northwest!

Yes, I second that. Everyone try to get to Moses Lake Washington in 2018. It is also a great place and a great place to race. Ask anyone who was there in 2007 and 2014. There will be lots of sun. Eastern Washington is drier than the Western side of the state.

American Power Boat Association presented the Fred Miller Award to Braxton Miller. He was the high point driver of the Mod. Nationals. Fred Miller put together the Mod. Div. for APBA. It's bedrock has been the Indiana Outboard Association, conducting most of the Mod. racing in APBA. Other cubs in the south hold Mod. Racing as well. Fred came to Little Rock, Ar. To speak in behalf of APBA to 24 drivers in the central South. They voted to start AOF at that meeting. I was at that meeting and later become president of AOF. Fred Miller impact on outboard boat racing has been written many times. I don't think anyone has been more enthusiastic for our sport. Our race team What's Up Doc? has been members of APBA more than 30 years and have enjoyed the opportunity to race in all Racing Association. We are proud to put our name on the first Trophy that recognizes Fred Miller. It will be a traveling Trophy going to someone who achieves the High Point Driver of the Mod. Nationals in Washington 2018. Congrats to Braxton who had one first, 2 second, a fourth and 8th.
