  • MJR Composites Open For Business

Four boats to be built by March, pics of the construction coming in January. I am back building boats again for the Stock, Mod and Pro divisions.

My company is MJR Composites and I will have a new website coming soon. I also will still be selling plans, as well as being a dealer for Lee Tietze's awesome hardware.

Stay tuned for new designs in 2006.

    Good News for Outboard Racing

Mark's re-emergence as a boat builder is good news for our sport. A few questions for Mark:

    1) All SO, MOD and PRO classes, including capsules? How about them canoes?

    2) Only composites from the factory?

    Thanks,

    Dave

      Hey Dave,

All boats (Hydro's) will have a Composite center section, which will consist of Composite coaming walls and a Composite bottom and nose. The rest of the boat will be wood, just like the tunnel boats are built. I will not make any wood coaming wall boats, only Composites. All boats will also have rounded pickle tips as well (UIM compliance).

I will also be making Capsule boats too along with rear cowlings and offering hardware from Lee Tietze.

I will still offer Computerized Boat Plans for anyone that would like to build their own boat.

        Capsule boats...

Do you plan on getting capsule certification?
I know you didn't list OPC boats... but a 45sst is a Stock.

I've always liked you boats and am racing sst45 now. Just wondering if you're considering it...

I will be obtaining the Capsule manufacturing certification for my cells, as I did in the past.

I have never built a 45ss but would love to get into the OPC field as well.

Does this mean, kevlar or something like that on both sides and the bottom?

                        Question, Mark . . .

I like the idea of a composite cockpit structure. Will you be making these as a part? Could a home builder get your plans and buy the cockpit to install in an MJR mostly wood boat?

Bill, Yes that will eventually be offered as well. I would like for anyone to be able to purchase a carbon center section from me and a set of plans and build it themselves.
