We are looking to plot a race course in front of home for testing this spring just wondering what good measurements would be for straightaways and corner distances just looking for general guidelines as I know all courses will vary

I think APBA has different size course dimensions. You would want to have a course similar to what you typically run. Most likely 3/4 to 1 mile course. Since 1 mile is 5280 feet, if you would make each straightaway 1000 feet and then make nice 3 buoy turns, that would be a good starting point. Then time your laps and compare to some of the race course times that you typically run.
