Sweet. Wish I had someone nearby that had a painting booth. I want to paint mine, but don't have the spray gear. It's been a few years, but I've done automotive painting before, just don't have the gear or place to do it.

I've talked to a couple local shops and for what I want (three colors with just a straight taped edge between them) they want $1200.

I'm thinking about buying some acrylic urethane and just roll it on with a foam roller, then wet sand the crap out of it and buff. I'm pretty sure it'll work, but it'll just take a ton of wet sanding to smooth it out. They also sell 2K clear in aerosol cans now too. It can be wet sanded and buffed really well and it's compatible with the acrylic urethane.

It should be plenty durable as most automotive manufacturers use this.

Just need to figure out if I need to prime the boat first or if the urethane will stick to 600 grit sanded epoxy.

I might just get a quart of it and try it on a test panel to see.

The acrylic urethane is cheap enough...well, not cheap cheap, but enough of it to paint my boat, including hardener and even a couple cans of the 2K clear aerosol will be under $200. That I can stomach. Sandpaper is cheap and I have plenty of elbow grease.

Ha! I wish. Have some work to do on the hull before I get to paint. Paint probably ain't happening until next year, or maybe end of season this year. Depends on my classes. Taking some online college stuff and between work and that, it takes most of my time.

Before I would have a chance of "playing" with the boat, I have a growing honey-do list as well.

My painter did prime the boat just to make sure to get good adhesion.
