Congratulations to Andrew Tate for winning the 2016 Seafair Unlimited race in Seattle yesterday.
This is Andrew's first year racing the unlimited hydroplanes and in only his 3rd race pulls off a convincing win over Jimmy Shane and JMK.
Keep in mind that being a rookie Andrew had to start behind the field in Madison Ind. in the 1st race in early July and then last week in Tri Cities Wa. lost a prop blade and messed up the boat pretty bad in the early heats so going into the race in Seattle it was all a crap shoot as there were five boats able to win the title.
Andrew grabbed the inside lane in the final heat and never looked back as Jimmy Shane and JMK could not catch him.
This is not an exact quote but it was something like this on Live TV " it was like a good old CSH heat in the outboards" !!!!
Its pretty cool to see so many of the drivers racing in the Unlimited ranks coming from the S.O. category and becoming the top drivers in the top class in APBA racing.
These guys are sometime playing bumper boats at 200PMH but seem to be trusting with someone you race on any given weekend in the outboard or smaller inboard categories.
Again, Congrats Andrew and the Mike and Lori Jones team well deserved !!!
