  • 2017 APBA Modified Nationals Question

I know it is quite far in advance.. But if any is out there already.. I'm curious about information for this event. Location, etc. (as well as any other info about it as well.) Might be eyeing to make the haul to come race at it.

Also.. As far as being able to compete for a championship.. Would I have to join APBA or will a weekend membership (if allowed) be enough? Been a while since I've raced an APBA event (been all NBRA for a while) so I'm not aware of all the ins and outs of things. Haha.

    Thank y'all for any responses.

You will need to join APBA for the whole year. We have been in this position ourselves and any Division or National Championship you can not sign up for a single event membership.

Years ago it was never like this. They honored other sanction origination such as CBF. Wish it were different.

I understand. I'm not ruling it out just yet. But if the cost is too high.. Might have to pass on it. But if I can somehow afford the trip/joining/stay/entry fees/etc.. I may very well be showing up. We shall see. Just trying to gather as much info as I can at the moment.

Thank you again for the info. Very much appreciated.

I believe the APBA/CBF reciprocal is because each is the UIM Authority for their respective country. There never was an APBA/NOA NOA/CBF, AOF, USTS etc.etc.

The tentative dates are June 30 - July 3rd. The dates could slide back a day to the 4th. Yes, participants for the APBA nationals will need to be full members and belong to an APBA club (CVRA for $25 should be available). We have had 4 enjoyable years at Kingston and expect 2017 to be the best event yet. Hope to see many friends from across the country next year!!

Awesome. Definitely keeping our eye on this event. Would be bringing a 350ccMR, 350ccMH, 750ccMH, and 850ccMH from Louisiana. And possibly 400ccMH, 500ccMR, 500ccMH, and 850ccMR.

Had heard something about PRO being combined in this event also. If that was the case could bring an OSY400 as well.

Anyone have an address to the pit area for this location? Would like to check the layout of things via Google Maps if able.

Pits are located along Race Street! Look at Google Maps, across from community center and Don Pablo's.

My understanding is that 2017 venue for SO nationals does not allow open pipes. Kingston, however, embraces the noise!!

I believe the stock Nationals is on the west coast in 2017 if not I would guess Wakefield. Pro/ Mod combined in Kingston. Has been a great turn out for Mod boats the past 2 years.

Another question: I've read a rule stating that Mod/Stock rigs are to have their numbers Number followed by Letter. And PRO is Letter followed by Number. All of our rigs are Letter followed by Number. Which would allow me to run OSY400 with no issue. If I'm interested in making this event will I be at risk of disqualification do to my numbers not meeting this criteria for the Modified classes? I assume per the rule book the answer would be yes.. But I also really don't see a point in changing the numbers on all of our rigs just to attend one event.

(Getting all my questions answered a year in advance. Haha. Appreciate y'all helping me out. )

I could be wrong but I believe you need an APBA sticker on each side of the boat.

John, show up and I will have decals for you. No reason to worry over decals. Join APBA at beginning of year and they will send decals. Send them an e-mail tomorrow and they will probably send you some. So, your numbers will be fine and you will have decals. Nothing to do now, but make sure that you have the days off!!

I appreciate that. Fingers crossed. Would love to come race.

You won't have an issue with the number/letter sequence.
You MUST have the APBA sticker on the boat at the race.

Really don't want any added decals to the rigs. But I think I can come up with something to have them on to get me through the event. Thank you all again for all the info.

Really at this point just waiting on seeing what my vacation time and what the NBRA schedule for next year looks like. Hopefully come the event I'll be able to come over and make a little noise with you guys.

If no scheduling conflicts.. Might try to recruit some others to come as well.
