Classics at Top O this year (roll call!)

Unfortunately Jack "Poppa" Deck will not be able to make it to Top O this year to run his Switzer Baby Bullet, so since his grandson won the J category in the boat 2 years ago, and after 45 years of waiting, it's my turn! I'll be running a fresh KG7 in B Classics in the 100S boat. Who else is coming?

PS By the way the rumor I broke my KG4 in front of breakers last year just so I could have a beer, I could neither deny or confirm. Looking forward to a finish this year!

A special thank you to the race committee, volunteers and others who worked so very hard during the cold, rainy Saturday. A very special thank you to the Coast Guard, and ODNR. I reached the mouth of the Indian River at 1:58 or so on Saturday, and was given the clear the finish the race. Unfortunately the baby bullet took a pounding on Saturday, and even though repairs were made that night, she started taking on water on Sunday.

There was concerns over the classics finishing the race. I did on Saturday, but understood the concerns of the committee about one way traffic for Sunday in the river, so we mutually decided that I would run Burt Lake, shut down, and wait and return with the first boat coming out of the river.
I went off course, found the closest pleasure boat and asked if I could hold on to them while we waited for the return. Out of all the boats I rafted up to, I chose the one that only had water on board!

I broke near the Breakers in 2007. The couple who towed me in took me to the Breakers. Perfect.
