  • 2016 NBRA Short Course Nationals in Pineville, LA (July 9th & 10th) Information

Started this post in order to have a singular place to post all the information/"need to knows" for this event next month.

Stopped by Buhlow Lake this morning on my way home from work and it is looking beautiful. I can't wait to finally get some racing back on it.

Talked with Uncle Randy earlier and found out that there will be another event happening in the area that same weekend as our races.. So he asked me to post that if you haven't already, it may be a good idea to get your rooms booked ASAP at the Ramada Inn and Best Western.

I expect Alan Van Weele Sr. to reply soon with more info/specifics and such regarding this event.

Really looking forward to seeing everyone! Remember, $10,000.00 in Tow Money! Should be a fun weekend.

Also.. I have been in contact with some race teams that are interested in coming to race with us at this event. But are worried that their particular classes may not have enough show up to actually be able to race which has them a bit shy to make the trip over. Some wanting to come from the Florida area.

Wondering who all is planning or is willing to bring their smaller runabouts.. A, B, and C Runabouts? I know we are going to attempt to have a B and C Runabout up and going for this event. But will have to see what time permits on our end as far as getting it together before the race. Trying to get 5 or so lined up that way they/we can run for a title. All of you smaller runabout folks ponder on it. We could definitely use you down here.

For those unaware (Just for quick reference).. The A Runabout is the Stock 80, restricted 102-302, Hot Rod A, etc. The B Runabout is the Mod. 80, Stock 102-302, Hot Rod B, Merc 25XS, B1 OMC, etc. The C Runabout is (all legal B Runabouts), Mod. 102-302, 35 OMC, C Merc, etc. (Has been my experience that many folks do not realize what is legal in the A and B Runabouts and therefore never actually know they have legal engines to add another class to their schedule.) Hope to see these classes running for a title in a few weeks!

Running the three heat format you can run hydros and runabouts mixed but let you make motor changes after the race. Such as having the D runabout on Saturday and the D Hydro on Sunday. Usts have been using this for years, with time between heats(staged heats) to change Pistons.

Trailers started arriving at Buhlow Lake today. There were 6 already parked along the shoreline before I left the lake about a half hour ago. Looking forward to the weekend!

We have developed a new score sheet with 3 heats which will make it easy to score and add the heats. Now, we need to keep our engines running for three heats. We also have a hard copy timer. Since we have some of the hottest temperatures of the season, Alan Van Whele and the Whats up Doc? Race team will provide cold watermelon after the race on Saturday.
