    To All,

Any one using Power Mist Castor? I think some are. The Power Mist Company is owned by Rick Fales who's father was Bill Fales, a long time F Runabout driver..... And a really good one... Powermist.com

To bad we can't run Castor Oil in Stock and Mod.

Why not? I've been using Maxima 927 for 10 years in stock , mod & pro

What is the problem with running caster oil in stock and mod? It is a lubricant, not a power additive. Maxima 927 is a caster blend.

Be careful mixing with synthetic oil as some like Amsoil do not mix with methanol.

From the APBA Mod Tech Manual: Oils may be petroleum or synthetic and cannot contain power boosting additives. Page 6

From the APBA Stock Tech Manual:

        Fuel Rules Page 6
        1. The Stock Outboard Category allows the use of pump gasoline, aviation gasoline and automotive racing gasoline. They may be used separately or mixed together. Pump Gasoline is defined as any product, which is offered to the general public for use in passenger automobiles.
        2. The addition of any substance other than oil, which is produced for use in consumer 2-cycle marine or off-road recreational products, is strictly prohibited.

This is all I could find in the Stock Tech Manual.

It looks like to me that only petroleum or synthetic oil is legal in Mod.

And, in Stock it doesn't define it much.

Could anyone else give some input here.

        Thanks............................................ .................................................. ........................

          Any answer to this?

I plan on running several Hot-Rods in A-MOD this year with fresh OMC rod bearings.
Will / would the castor based oil / syn blends help with cage wear.
Carl Holt told me to check these about every 4-6 weekends of racing due to needle cage wear.

I also hear you want to keep an eye on your MOD Yamatoes also do to the RPM's these turn ?

I ran Blendzall for years in the 60-70's in my 340 and 634 Hirth MOD Artic Cats without fail or gasoline separation issues..... Never knew to flush with conv oils...... Did I just get lucky or is Blenzall formulated to not gum or seperate?
Sleds are now in Joe Klick's Race Snowmobile Museum in Wattsburg Pa. and mine are ready race in Classic events.
Joe has multiple brands on display.

Any source for Hot-Rod rod bearings other than used from junk OMC powerheads ? Are new avail from OMC. Any hoarders have a few sets avail ?

Can't believe the oil to gas mix ratio for the Hot-Rods but been told it is not worth risking. Even with Synthetic oils today ?

Thanks for ANY replies / thoughts, Steve French 100N

All righty than!! some one in charge with interpreting the rule for the both the stock and mod category's needs to put the above reference to castor mix oils as being considered legal/ or not in the form of a documented statement. so there is not a D. Q. for its use this season. Not looking for opinions from the racing brotherhood ,BUT the ones responsible for the final decision of SORC and the MOD category if a D. Q. happens at some race for its use.

Just my opinion, but I think it would be foolish for either the Stock or Mod racing commissions to ban castor oil or any of its blends because it is such a fine lubricant. Castor oil is certainly not a speed or performance booster, but instead is just a really good wear preventive.

Following Tim Chance's advice last year, I bought a four-gallon case of pure castor oil from SIG for less than $40 per gallon. This price compares favorably with some of the top 2-cycle synthetic blends that I see on the shelves at Wal-Mart, especially because castor oil is a superior lubricant.

I have and so have many pro racers been using power mist oils and methanol for over40 years. Im a dealer for PM.. sold over 1000 gallons of fuel and over 150 gallons of their two stroke oil made for methanol. Oil is mixed in N.J. and fuel is made to their formular at refinery. Have already sold 700 gallons fuel and 60 gallons of oil for USTS drivers this season. I bring fuel to USTS races to sell by the gallon as well as oil. Pm me if ya want some.

In stock or mod just mix your castor oil or power mist and gasoline not (gashonal) the ratio you want to mix and take it down to inspection in test if it passes your all good and for the newbies don't let no water get in your gasoline and oil. That first place will be a no place. Lesson learned the hard way
