  • why I love boat racing

I've been involved in boat racing most of my life. My father started with a KG7 and speed liner runabout in 1953. I started in 54 with a KG4 and a orange swift hydro. A few years later, after I return from Vietnam, I started racing a D hydro, however after two years, I was almost killed when a driver drove to the middle buoy and hit me broad side breaking my hip. I moved to Grove got married And purchased a 20H and hydro.
Racing was in my blood and I don't give up easy. So what is it, the competition, the epinephrine rush or the comrade with others that share the sport? Yea some of that, but I build a high expectation a week before the race and on route to the race I am full of plans on how we approach the race. It's truly a good feeling. And contra verse, the trip home can be a downer, not because the way we placed but just because the race is over. Hey, maybe I'm a junkie..".. When is the next race?
