  • RACING NBRA

Several years ago, NBRA members decided to sell our show or race for money, tow money. Slowly NBRA has become the outboard racing organization that has grown into the largest race-for-fee group. USTS has had the largest pay out with their super race at Depue. NBRA has had more races with large tow money. This coresponds with the high cost of transporting multi-boats over longer distances. The truth is that racing will always be a hobby and we do it for the excitement and the competition. In our most recent race, the tow money paid our entry fee and our fuel to the event. However, when we sell a race, the site has equal statue, because we can tear up equipment on difficult site. Often large purses can be had on River race sites that are unsuitable for outboard racing. Other sites that are unsuitable are site where there are no pleasure boat control. The recent accident in Maryland, a inboard race, where a fatality occurred is a sad reminder of the importance of boat control. As our racing community gets smaller, it becomes more important to combine our efforts to keep this sport alive.

I want to second Doc and thank all the people that made NBRA racing the success that it is. I have been most of my life a boat racer or owner crew chief. Never in my wildest imagination did I think when we formed NBRA that it would be what it is today. We have some of the neatest race sites with great sponsors. Not only that but races that pay enough tow money, that it makes it possible for an old retired guy like me to travel to races like Alexandria La. & Jacksboro Tx. and pay for most of our expenses. Go NBRA!!!! Race NBRA!!!!

I usually do not have a comment I wish to share but this topic is important. To those that enjoy racing at a high level with better than average fields of boats try the NBRA.I have attended a few of their races including the Nationals and was very impressed with almost all aspects of the race, from operation to announcer, but most importantly I felt welcomed! The tow money is a bonus but by no means the reason you should try the NBRA.I cannot wait for next season, I plan on trying to attending as many as I can. Thanks to all that work so hard to make the NBRA as successful as it is!!!
