  • McAfee race team had record setting day!

The only bad thing is we set a record for being towed in. D hydro a shear pin was thrown out 2 times need to check the shear pin hole. E runabout we had a throttle problem and was towed in. In E hydro we had a ignition go bad and I guess I better tell this on myself before someone else does. I didn't fill the gas tank and Kevin ran out of gas once. Even after all of this it was a fun race weekend , the fish cook out after the race is getting bigger every year and a lot of people pitching in for a great meal. I can't say enough about all the hard work Tom Winner puts in for this race. He had $7,500 tow money, plus a drawing for a 60 flat screen TV. the 50-50 drawing had $1,200 in it and on top of that was a $150.00 grocery drawing. I about forgot the one man band Tom had lined up for Sat night who was very entertaining. He also had a big pile of wood for the camp fires that was great to have. The Jacksonville Il. is a race you should try to make next year! Thanks again Tom!

Sounds like you were able to keep a positive attitude through it all. I guess even the best have hardluck days.

And forgetting the gas...I wish I could say I have never done that but...been there, done that too.

      Larry:

As bad as you describe the weekend, at least you dont have to do any wood working and boat repair! It definitely was not up to the Big Mac standards.

But hey, you've got the winter to get well, and look how much money you saved on fuel by getting towed in!

Kudos to Tom Winner, he certainly worked his butt off all weekend. I'm sure that he is taking some time to kick back and rest up. Well done Tom!
      Good weekend of racing.
