  • Hillsdale American Legion Championships Sep 11-13

In less than two weeks the IOA will be hosting its second race of the Season in Hillsdale Michigan. it's been a long drought this summer in between races with our last event way back in June but the wait is over and the IOA is back in action. If you haven't ever been to Hillsdale before it is a nice 3/4 mile tri-oval course that leads to some close heats. The great thing about this event is that we run 3 days of racing in two, so for the year end points chasers it is a good way to get a little extra boost. We have all mod and J classes on the sanction along with c service and c race classes as well as the SLT. There will be testing on Friday and camping at the Legion is $15 per night. We also do have a new rookie J driver within our club that is looking to get some boat time so if there are any J parents out there that would like their child to get an extra run at the clock with the 3 days of racing in two, please let the carfarellis know. Visit apba.org, indianaoutboard.org, or the Indiana outboard associations Facebook page for more info. Hope to see you all there!!

Brian, all of the J kids and parents will be at grass lake about an hour east of hillsdale that weekend. There will be full fields of JH and JR there. MHRA does a great job promoting all the J classes ( JH, JR, AXH AND AXR ) and would welcome Ashton and yourself there. Unfortunately for you the fun stops there. No open exhaust is allowed on grass lake, so you cannot run your 750 R there. Seems like we should be able to all comingle, as there really are not that many boat racers, or boat races to be segregated going forward. That is another battle for another thread. I understand your club ( IOA ) and the traditions that they have, hillsdale is an awesome race and venue. Last year the IOA welcomed many stock ( including several Junior ) racers to hillsdale, and had a great weekend. Seems like scheduling could make this work, but not for next weekend.

I want my kid to get some laps. If we get three we will race. I know lots of people race mod and stock. It is not about ioa vs Michigan hydro. It is offering the kids an option to race. I agree I wish we could schedule better but it is what it is this weekend. The grass lake people will not be made if a couple j drivers come race. I need my pipes and ash needs his seat time. I may end up dropping him off or maybe he just gets to do a lot of flags.

I have 2 confirmed J drivers. Still need one more. Free Popsicles and snacks for J drivers in the Cafarelli pits/RV at Hillsdale!
