Been hearing a lot about the 321 that yamato has come out with. Does any body have any specs, price, charts, etc. anything on this motor. I've looked all over and have come up with practically nothing. I'd be interested in buying one of they are a good motor. Thanks in advance.

You can read up on it here - to include comparison between the 302 and 321: http://www.yamatoracing.co.uk/model-321/4587843953. Believe price will be very similar to what a 'new' 302 costs.
One of our club members has the 321 (currently only can run in 500 CMH/CMH as not yet approved for CSH), basically same powerhead as the 302, different tower and different carb cover (has baffles in it). Seems very similar in performance to the 302 (if not identical). As Yamato no longer makes the 302, the 321 will be the only option for 'new' motors. I don't know the timeline for importing the 321 in numbers to the States, Ric M is working that with the EPA et al.

I have one and Benson just finished putting it back together after checking everything out. The engine has some nice subtle non speed improvements. What I found was the piston clearances and crank shaft were perfect. After the stock Nationals, My plan is as follows:
1) Dyno test vs. 302,
2) Boat test vs 302, and
3) race at Silver Lake, Castle Rock, Wa. in CMH or OSY-400 on CSH boat for lap times - if legal.
I'll share data.

The SORC has approved the 321 for the 2016 season in all stock classes that currently have a 302 in it. This was done in January's national meeting in Detroit. Joe Pater did the SORC testing and presented results in Detroit.Kyle Bahl

I picked up the 321 that was purchased by the SORC for testing purposes and parity testing this weekend in Grass Lake. Since I just got it this weekend, I have not been able to supply any data. My plan is to test this motor in race conditions and reporting all information to the public against the sealed 302 motor in 302 SSHhydro.. I am also using the motor to develop test data for the sealed 321 Runabout class that I am working on proposing. (on that note, anyone have a C Marathon they are looking to off load or donate for the cause?) All data that I collect will be available on youtube, and I will be using GPS logs to compare and show acceleration and top speed. More to come... BTW Pater says purchase one! When it comes to boat racing and the wife, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is permission, and of course I spent a number of nights sleeping on the couch!

Here is Joe Pater's Report and some specs on the motor.
Feel free to add your own data to this dropbox account.Dropbox is a free service that lets you bring your photos, docs, and videos anywhere and share them easily. The 302 SSH class has taken off in region 1 . Jeff has done a good job and spent a lot of travel time making sure there are boats in the water. I am considering this class with my son for him to race . He is outgrowing AXH and is running well in his 25SSR. With the lack of 25 SSH entries this would seem like an ideal class for him . Now do I get a 302 sealed motor or wait and see on a 321 ?

Just thinking out loud, but I'd like to see APBA quickly fix this before too many 302SSH 302 engines are sold... stop selling 302's now. There is a market for them still to the other classes, buy the ones sold back at some level of prorated value and replace with sealed 321's. State the 302 is illegal in "X" years for 302SSH. Would be some loss in money to APBA, but in long run the class will be much better off I think. Could be done in stages even... 5 at a time or something. Sell them off at slightly reduced price (bought them back at slightly reduced prorated price) to move them and give 321's in place for little extra cash. How many sealed 302SS motors are out there? 25 maybe? (wild guess). This will surely screw the class up having two motors.

Andrew - AMEN AMEN AMEN, this has to happen. You cant have a sealed motor class with two different motors. The words testing and parity should not even be used. As a 302SSH owner, I would not even swap mine. I would just buy another 321 as the 302 still has a lot of value. We need to cut over to the 321 - pay the conversion price for those that have 302 and want it and move to the 321 for 2016 - pending that we have some in the country to buy. This is a very real issue for this class.

Yikes! 302SSH is the class I'm looking to begin our racing in. Maybe we should hold off on that?
Not knowing enough details about Yamato in general, how often do they come out with updated versions or new models of their engines? I see the 80, 102, 202, 302, now 321.
Seems a "sealed" or "parity" class would want an engine that could be reliably counted on to be produced for quite some time.
Is there any chance some other engine could take its place in the class with reasonable expectation of availability for years?
The parity of the class is what attracts me initially as it represents more of a"turn key" solution (buy a boat, buy an engine, go race) vs having to know or learn props, engine tweaking, etc (and thus more cost)...yet still runs at respectable speed to be exciting.
I hope this gets sorted out soon.
