  • Grass lake, MI 10-12 July 2015

Although we had to leave Sunday, just wanted to say what a great event MHRA put on this past weekend! I believe the count was 143 boats registered and they ran 3-in-2 to try to get through all the racing.

There were something like 11 or 12 students in the driver school on Friday and although my daughter took the classroom instruction, she wasn't quite comfortable enough to get in a boat, so in good time I'm sure she will. All the instructors were great!

I was fortunate enough to take her place in driving and managed to get some laps and "race the instructor". I also got to run my first two "real" races on Saturday (sorry Dave, I had to put that sticky white tape all over the helmet...but I'll buy it from you since you're selling it...fits me well). What an absolute blast! Of course, that also entailed driver's meeting, registering, and an up-front view of the incredible amount of work that goes into running a race event. Hat's off to MHRA and everyone involved in overseeing the event. Those folks busted some serious hump to "get 'er done"!

Everyone had a great time and we are anxiously looking forward to the Zanesville event and going back up to Grass Lake again in September.

SWMBO has given the thumbs up, so the Lance family is planning to be driving next season in 302SSH for my son and I and maybe AXH for my daughter...

Thanks MHRA, you guys are a class act!

Thanks for the kind words Dane.
We were very glad that you were able to stick around on Saturday - you looked very good in the boat, we will make sure to talk more soon about a good boat to get you started in. It was a pleasure to meet you and your family and look forward to seeing you guys again soon!

In case you were wondering, I was behind you on Saturday, so enjoy this video of my buttocks and you running the MHRA boat (in blue)...nice job keeping me at bay.

When it comes to boat racing and the wife, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is permission, and of course I spent a number of nights sleeping on the couch!

Oh man that was so cool! So tell me, how do you get the track and speed and graph on the video? Some sort of GPS overlay?

I noticed too on a couple of your turns you never backed off the throttle at all. Hmmmm. But seriously, the ONLY reason I was ahead was because you messed up your start timing a little worse than I did....and mine was pretty horrible. I had every intention of at least being closer to the pack, but I put the dark shield down on the helmet and thought the white flag was the green flag and the clock was counting the 3 minutes till white flag. I didn't realize my error until the clock was at like 15 seconds and by then it was way too late.

      Dane,

Great meeting you and look forward to helping you and your family get into the Stock Outboard family. Shoot me an email if you like and we can discuss strategies to get started.

      Thanks,
