Grants Pass, OR where the shovelnose hydroplane still rules the rivers. This years boatnik saw a field of 20 boats with 4 rookies. Of the 20 that started the race 9 finished the 60+ mile course. Ryan McGinnis won for the fifth time in his first race since 2010. He drove the number 9 boat shown in the third picture and successfully held of Jeff Lewis who came in second. There were thousands of people lining the bank the length of the racecourse to witness the event. Many camped along the bank and had festivities all weekend long culminating with the whitewater hydroplane race Monday afternoon.
