We are happy to announce that racing will resume again on Lake Apthorpe (aka; Cemetery Lake) in Lake Placid, FL.
It has been a lot of work by Tony and Carl Staron and Tom Dunn to accomplish this.
Here are the rules that were agreed upon by the county,city, orange grove owner,local home owners association, etc:
1. Testing: must be done by contact with Carl Staron. If you need his number, email : AOFOffice@hotmail.com
2. DO NOT, under any cir***stances ENTER the orange grove at any time or for any reason.
3. NO camoing in pit area or race stie.
4. NO open containers of alcoholic beverages at anytime
5. No off-road vehicles will be used in pit area or at race site.
6. NO running of motors before 10 am on weekdays, Noon on Sunday
7. NO running of motors after 5 pm on Sat, 4 pm on Sunday
8. NO testing without a signed release and a manned pick up boat prsent
9. All fuel tanks will be filled within 10 feet of shoreline
10. All vendors will have local permits displayed.
11. Fishermen will always be given courtesy and the right of way.
12. Pick up any garbage and take with you.
There will be several days of organized insured racing at this site. If you want to test, it would be advisable to use these race days with proper permits as your testing days. The races will be AOF and membership in AOF is cheap. Let's keep this site alive by everyone following the rules.
