Jack Stoutt, I know you are there as Bill Hoctor talked with Nuch. Just not sure you are on line. What is it like there, any more boats show up & weather?

Plan on driving down from Haines City, FL

John, I am here. Weather today was windy and overcast all day. Four folks tested in spite of the weather (Dan Parker, Howie Nichols, Carl ? from Michigan and Tom Nuchio). Five trailers present. Weather is supposed to be much better tomorrow (Sat.) Come on down, short trip!

i would like to recap of our week end at aof event.

first i would like to say that the lake itself is a great place to have a local event.

the people with the aof event were just great , they had clock set up nice coarse set up ect. aof people even had free hot dogs for all.the pit area where you put boats in were a little cramped but nice. the weather was not very good thursday and friday rained and wind but i guess there were people testing. on those two days . we did not get there on till Friday evening .

sat.a little wind and cloudy mixed with sun but warm aprox mid 70s there were for what i could see aprox 10 to 15 trailers mixed mod and stock . it looked like everybody ran on sat sun came out afternoon and you could run full throttle into wind . we were disappointed that were not many pro people showed up . we had my son marc, with his 250 , my grand son zak with his 125 , and Thompson family with there 125 , we had some problems with our 125 and with out ben Thompson giving us help we would not have had a successful week end . thanks Ben for all you help .sun afternoon ben and zak went out and ran a little type race to help zak get some seat time with another boat on a race coarse .it really helped zak get experience on a race coarse. by the way Sunday was just beautiful little breeze and 80s . great day. who did not show missed some good test time . i know we had a good time. in regards to aof and location i believe that a couple of good local events could be put on with good success . i know the aof group would like to see such events for future seasons. they will put on anybody's class if they show . you can not beat that . it would be a great opportunity for drivers to get there equipment running ect. for the fowling season . we hope to be working with this group so as to get some local racing in the state of Florida in the next winter months . it was a good start hopefully everyone can make it a better event so everyone can beneficent and enjoy these events that will be put on the Florida scheduled in the near future . you know it was good to see some people want to try to get some type of activity back in this region, thanks again aof,the laroses .

Would like to thank everyone who came down to Lake Apthorpe, Florida to attend our AOF Event . The weather wasn't the best but at least tolerable and the company there was great.
Special thanks to Carl Staron for all the endless work he put in along with his neighbor Tom. Additional thanks to chef Bobby Laws for all of his help.
Hopefully, everyone enjoyed our efforts as we did having you there and next year will be bigger and better. Good luck to all those heading to Lakeland next weekend.

The number 2 photo showing the launch ramp brings back some memories. Some years ago, probably in the late 80's or early nineties when Tim Brinkman was about 5 years old, Eileen was put in charge of taking care of him while Todd and I tested on this lake.

She found a rod and reel that we always kept in the Van and dug a worm or two by this launch ramp and threw it in the lake with a bobber to keep him occupied while we were testing. He very quickly went thru the two worms by catching two perch and then she had to go to Lake Placid and get more worms so he could catch more fish. He got very excited each time a fish would get on and he would reel it in, but could not seem to get the hang of keeping it up after it was out of the water. I can't remember how many perch he caught, but all of them were about devoid of any scales as he drug them up the concrete ramp. He would not touch them so she had to take each one off. If I remember correctly she made about three trips to Lake Placid for worms.

He did not change his ways much as he got older as he was very demanding in his teen years, only this time it was more speed in our 125 and consequently many more trips to the motor builder and boat builder and dollars spent. He did manage to win a National and World Championship though, so I guess it was worth it, but if I had known what Eileen started with those
worms at that lake I probably would have stopped her from making that first trip after the two worms she dug up were gone

Seems like yesterday we were at this lake, but Tim just had his 30th birthday not long ago, and has a boy of his own about the same age now.

Any more pics? Was it all testing or were there any heat races?

              John,

              Cool, Thanks.

Let me know how many showed up, and how far they came from. I think some of these guys are pretty serious about their racing. Remember, it's all racing, and it's all good.

              Best Regards,
