  • G. Pemberton's Lochness Turd Award....

I was going thru some of my Dad's pics from the early 80s. We went to Montreal that summer & man was it hot. Gerald busted up his Cservice Runabout pretty good attached pic of the award presentation. Those were some good times...........

That is a great picture! I loved watching Gerald take the turns with his runabouts, he could flat out drive that thing. When I was a kid coming up through the J/A/B ranks I used to study his driving style. I also recognize Bob Abbott, Norm Bachand, and J.L. Bachand.
GREAT PICTURE of some GREAT PEOPLE!

    Russ

P.S. I remember racing a real fast J runabout you had in the late 70's. Do you still have that boat? I think I raced it in the divisionals at Silver Lake.

Hello Jeff, which one is Harry? I may have confused him with someone else.
Harry had a rocket BSH called SAMURAI. He won the Canadian Nationals back to back years. He also had a "cool" coleman cooler boat. I think they called them fibrefast or something like that.

Was that in Verdun or Chateauguay?
Jeff- as for the location all I remeber is there was a massive building (Convention Center maybe) to one side of the camping area & a baseball diamond to the other side.

Russ- any boats from years past were either sold or traded. Do I wish we had not ever gotten rid of anything over the years, YES. By the way which Russ is this?

A little story behind the picture.... Because of the rather unique conditions in Verdun with the unthinkable objects floating in the water I started this joke with my buddy Gerald about Verdun being the home of the Loch Ness Turd. As luck would have it he caught a bad wave in his runabout and blew the bottom out. That night, I took the piece of the bottom and turned it into the placque that we presented to him at drivers meeting. As Joe said the placque still hangs in geralds garage.

Yup! it's an old Marchetti, that was raced by Armand Hebert in the "A" alky class. The boat now hangs on the wall in a garage not far from me. It was an awesome boat to race.
