Starting in the 2015 season, SCSC is hosting a local class for A Hydroplanes powered by vintage engines in Region 12 and surrounding regions. The rules are the same as A Classic Hydro with exception for allowing the OMC as a legal motor. The OMC EKT & JKT along with the Mercury KG4 are legal motors to bring out as many of these vintage engines as possible. There is a $50 cash prize for the overall winner of each regatta along with trophies for the top 3. There will be a high points champion crowned at the 2015 SCSC award banquet.
This intent is to provide a class where the OMC can remain competitive and bridge the gap until the JKT & EKT are legal motors in A Classic classes. We have proven it only adds to the racing as every competitor who raced in the OMC class also raced ASH as a second class.
