I think the Yamato factory points and the Kawasaki point sell for around $35/ea

It is said that the Kawasaki points are the best for replacement because of the quality of the points. Sometimes value is worth the price.

but, the NAPA points are made by Echlin, which after being in the marine business for almost 20yrs, I have found they make the best set of points out there, compared to anythig else that was available. In fact, I remember probably 10yrs ago or so, I was tuning up a Redline Inboard 460 Jet Drive engine and installed another brand of points and the thing would run like crap. Called the factory, they said ONLY to use Echlin points for high RPM use.

as to the Napa points, I was given that p/n by RJ West (45SST fame) a couple months ago, who's family owns a NAPA dealership and that is what he has used in all his Yamatos in the past and he was ALWAYS fast in any "kneeler" class he raced and always had top equipment. Heck, I bet if he got back into OSY400, he would be one of the top contenders again!

sometimes, the more $$ you spend is not always the right way....

            just my 3 cents........

              Daren,

Thanks for the lesson. I was always told the Kawasaki points were better, but I'd definately take your word that the NAPA points are just as good if not better. I may have to try a set in my 80 as the points are always all over the place.

Darren, Joe, I saw RJ saturday night and asked him about the 102 points. He said they were for a suzuki application and that they had copper contacts instead of the plated ones. He also stated they work good. The price he quoted me was about $11.00 each . But I don't know if Napa prices are the same all over. George Scott 110c
