  • Mark Suters racing outboard show Oct 18

For those of you not attending the Region 6 meeting, you should consider Mark Suter's annual AOMCI antique outboard show Saturday October 18 in Byron, MI just north of Fowlerville. Dick Austin's fabulous "Looper Beast" will be displayed on one of his cab-over hydros, along with Mark's 175+ stock, mod, and alky outboards and much, much more. There is also a swap meet where old racing equipment/engines are popular among collectors. Google "Mark Suter AOMCI show" for more information. See you there,

    Tim

That is cool Tim.. Maybe next year I might be able to get there. I am moving to Michigan this weekend but have to come back to NY during the event.

The association between the Ring of Fire Runabout and John Cash has been talked about MANY times on Boat Racing Facts and other sites. There are many posts and a complete history of the original Ring of Fire's owner, Marshall Grant, who was the bass player for the "Tennessee Three", Cash's backup group, and one of several drivers of the boat, Billy Seebold. I have heard some past discussion whether this boat is the original "Ring of Fire" or a similar boat with the same name, as I seem to remember there were several. That piece of information I am sure can be gotten from the Museum curators, and I think I remember it being in one or more of the posts on BRF I have referenced.

Go to BRF and use the search function, using the name of the boat, owner, and driver I have listed, and you will find much info on all of the above.

Bill... the pictured boat is one that you should be familiar with. It is a tribute (clone) done by Art Neadeck and shown at many prominent shows, including the 2007 DePue Drivers Reunion. It has the autographs of Marshall Grant, Dick Pond and Bill Seebold, Jr. on the deck.

Marks collection of racing engines, boats, and accessories is exceptional. Picture can't really do it justice, but here's a try. See you there!
