Weather turned out perfect, all three days
      - 'some' rain FRI nite & early SAT AM .
Typical New England, "if its not nice now, wait an hour"........
SSOA did their usual 1st class job
Maple syrup cured ham dinner, in the pits, SAT
Notable performances in the 'Golden Saddle Award
were Clark in DSH and Rorke in CSR.
-both 'long trajectory' free air launches/
      bh/

Pit photos, racing shots and videos from Standish 2014 are now posted on the SSOA web site. Go to the site, click on Photos & Videos or use this direct link:

Enjoy and thank Paul Luippold when you see him.
      Prints are available from Paul.

The best way to see the results is to be there!! The last of the Club equipment was just pulled off of the site tonight. Results should follow. There were two classes with eight boats for Divisionals, CSR & CSH. After gun jumps, spin outs, blow overs and missing turn fins, Howie Nichols survived the mayhem and won CSR thereby denying the Northeast of a qualifier. Dave Jones won the CSH class on both Saturday and Sunday.

Wild Bill Forster is the early points leader in the "Mike Cook Northeast Challenge Series" followed by Steve Noury and Howie Nichols. This is going to be a great 12 race series.

        Full results to follow tomorrow.

Early SAT it looked like the Whitney Point disease
            had spread to Standish ME,.
My little dog had to swim to high ground
after jumping into the 6" of water than surrounded my trailer.
The sun came out at 9,
and all water was gone by noon.
The pits were always fine; -only part of the camp ground.
I will know better in future

Matt& Wayne Latter from Montreal were camped here.
Lucky their tent floated (to where?)
Those with local knowledge, of course, camped on hi-ground.
Did they warn the out-of-staters ?
            NO; -they are too polite

            Wally Schlip was another 'floater'.

              -actually Round III
Was it the 2008 Nats that we had to pull the pits
back to the road at nite ?

As it was the Divisionals there was no 'gas-of-the-day' ,
but we did have 'beans-of-the-day', and lots of gas later,
courtesy of B&M Beans, of Maine.
            Finishers got their choice of any of four flavors;
            grandma's, bacon, molasses or smokey.
            Many said their unopened cans
were going up in their trophy cases.
So now we know, what makes the 'Russian' go.

No shortage of firewood, courtesy of Clark Racing
You had to let it dry though.
ps; all pix by Michael Rorke, and some firewood too...

Remember the old days when we waited weeks ( or months ) for results in the Propeller. Now it only takes a few hours for us to get impatient.

I think this was my 8th visit to the spring version of Standish. On my 1st visit I was wondering where all the mercs went in B and C stock. It's always a great time and a great way to break into summah. The weather was great and my grandkids had a great time. It doesn't get better. I'd like to give special thanks to Shawn for putting it all together. Also thanks to the Akerstroms for saving my Friday night having to drive home and to Charlie Gonyea for excellent advice on running JSH on Sunday. This is a very special group of folks. Finally best of luck to Scott Clark, Mike Rourke & Bob O'Conner for getting rigs their ready to run at Milton in three weeks.
                        ..
