  • Whats driving the lack of CSH participation around the NJ, MD, NC area

Understanding that the season is just getting underway for many parts of the country I have read that due to lack of interest at the Spring Millville, NJ regatta and now Tabor City, NC just this past weekend CSH was not run. Anyone have thoughts on what might be driving this low early season turn out in the CSH class?

    Thanks

Dan I think Mother's Day and only three weeks from winter nationals at Jesup probably hurt the attendance at Tabor City. Not sure what happened to Millville. It could be high gas prices keeping folks close to home. I do know that is the reason I don't travel as far and often as I would like too! Steve 10-Z

I noticed that too. The NW isn't having that problem with 19 CSH entered each day at the first two races of the year. Maybe everyone is gearing up to come west for Moses Lake? As race chairman I only hope! With the amount of region 10 attendance in CSH I'm looking to get 40 CSH's at Moses. This would be one of the biggest nationals in CSH in awhile if that happened. Stay tuned for information on incentives to get folks west

I think its a serious issue, We did not run Taunton, Ma last year because the club lost so much money on the attendance the year before. Not having the biggest stock class show up in back to back races on the same coast is not good. looking at the results of Milleville..ALOT of boats did not go. 4-6 boat heats. If the mid-west guys didn't show up to the winter nationals..that race would have been a bust also. With turn outs like this clubs are going to lose money on every race. Not having boats show up to a divisionals is scary. Reg 1 has a few CSH's that will be at Standish divisionals this weekend. So we will see who else shows up.

In the last several years I have noticed less and less boats in a class. The Eastern Outboard Racing Club of Long Island watched the turn out dwindle each year. It came to the point it was not worth the effort or the money to support a race. The club is now no longer active. I hope this is not the trend but I see three and four boat fields at most local races now days. Just too many classes to support the amount of boats and racing become boring for any spectator. The racers/drivers will be paying for everything until it becomes to expensive as with the EORC club. Just hope I am wrong.
