    JW,

Soap Lake is a community that wants boat racing and that is difficult to find. Three hours from Seattle is not a long drive and they don't mind the loud classes.

As Daren and you have mentioned all of the kill switch shorting out problems are easily solved with a little work... The extra wash stations will be helpful and should be used. I think only a few people using them on Saturday after racing.

The location that you are talking about moving the pits to was used during the Inboard race last year when the J's raced. I was not there but heard it was nice and we will be using it again in June for the Inboard race.

I think that SOA did a great job last year by hiring some of the local people to help push and pull trailers into the water!

Charlie Marquard told me this morning that he will be at the SOA Soap Lake Race with (2) JSH & (2) JSR. Expect limitations in J Hydro at Soap Lake.

    Matt

      Editing a comment
If Charlie is bringing his fleet of boats to race, then nobody else should be worried......as we know Charlie is very meticulous with the outstanding race equipment they run....and if he's not worried.....well then..

Something we discovered last year was that you don't want to get that water on your Keller steering wheel, it got so slick you couldn't hardly hold it.

Tony, I do remember that. Gloves are a big help for wet hands there. Mine disappeared and that reminds me I need to pick up another pair

Does anyone want to speculate what classes and approximate boat count?

Black Sheep Racing will field two 1100 Runabouts. I ain't doing three again, ever!

I'll be there! Looking forward to it, I liked the course. Water caused some havoc but I think we're all better equipped to make things go more smoothly this year.

Thank you for the input so far! However we will need more than 4 or 5 classes per day.... The more response we get the better!

              Thanks!

Soap Lake Washington!!! Let’s get real honest and straight forward here. THE WATER IS NOT A PROBLEM. Inboards and Outboards raced here over 30 years ago. Since then the Irrigation Water from the Columbia Basin Reclamation Project (Grand Coulee Dam) has continued to seep into the lake. Weather the locals will admit this or not this lake is diluted out more every year. The lake itself still has very unique qualities. It does leave a “film “on your equipment. That film is easily rinsed off with fresh water. The inboards proved that last year. If you had corrosion issues after the Soap Lake Outboard Race last year here’s the fact. YOU DID NOT PROPERLY MAINTAIN YOUR EQUIPMENT AFTER THE RACE. Don’t blame your problem on Soap Lake. Jet Skis have a race here every year as well and they will tell you the same thing. Bring a couple cans of WD40 and rinse off you equipment.
Seattle Outboard Association placed a date on the race calendar for an event at Soap Lake in 2014. The City of Soap Lake, the Chamber of Commerce, and the citizens are all aware of that schedule and date. SOA filed a request with the city for a Tourism Grant for promotional money. The City Council awarded that money to the club. You had a “title sponsor “last year with the Del Red Pub. Soap Lake has supported you. How many communities give that kind of financial support to any type of boat racing? The members of SOA now need to get behind this event and make good on your commitment to Soap Lake in 2014. If you decide it is not somewhere you want to race in 2015 and beyond then that’s fine.
It sound to me that the SOA Race Director is trying very hard to fix some of the issues from last year. Give them a chance and please support Soap Lake

I'll be there with 750ccmh. I want as much experience as I can get this season and this race sounds like it has a bit I can learn from. Thanks Dave and JW for putting it together and what it sounds like trying to resolve issues from previous years

CBKS Racing will be there with 1 J stock hydro. we ran the boat there twice last year and never had any issues with the water. in fact the J stock will run there twice again this year along with our inboard hydro.
