We have some 80's running in FL that are fast, but not as fast as the restricted CSR. Bob Mackrell has one that has run second to me several times and it's fast. Don't know why others haven't tried running the 80's, guess it because they run 20Hydro and they know there will always be a class of 20H. I think we need to change the CSR in 25 to somewhere between 435-450lbs. My CSR as a 25 rig weights 435 and it's fast at that weight.

the csr weigh has been in the 470 to 475 since i started racing this class. If you lower the weight any then you make the guy who is near 200 lbs now overweight in this class. This is the only big boy runabout class we have. DSR I can't really count due to its lack of boats. I still think Eds idea of a light weight rig and lower engine height. Heavier rig regular height . This gives everyone a fair shot. And Kevin was right when he said do your homework and you would be suprised what you might find. This is what i said way back when we started trying to give the merc a boost. Smoken Joe is probably testing the Merc today with the old b mod sorenson and will come to wakefield and clean our clocks. Mikemike ross

Actually, gonna work on the 25 program this coming year some. My thinking is, "if it ain't broke don't fix it". This is my only comment!
Donny is not going to be happy that you called him a Midget."Ask anyone, I have no friends. I do have some people that put up with me and mostly because they like the rest of my family"

Facts:
1. From 1997 to about 2003, 25SSR was nearly dead. That is why you'll see Mercs in the top 5 at the Nationals during those years.
2. David Dewald's 1988 25SSR 1 mile record was finally broken in 2004 by a Yamato. This is not because no one had been trying to break it since '88. By the way, Dewald's 15SSR (now BSR) record from that same race still stands.
3. The 25SSR Yamato will go faster than a CSR if you get rid of the 70 pounds.
4. A Merc or Hot Rod 25SSR will never go as fast as a comparable CSR.
5. A Hot Rod will never compete with a Merc that does not have the restrictor. In 25SSR with a height restriction (unlike 25H), the restrictor does make a top-end difference (in addition to acceleration).
And now you've heard... the rest of the story.14-H

By the way, do not let my disagreement with this create any inference that Mr. Pater didn't do an awesome job at Dayton. He did. That is why I must insist that he was much faster than the 2nd place Yamato. Outstanding job. Congratulations!Last edited by 14-H; 10-21-2005, 11:58 AM.14-H

If an engine being out of production means kill the class, lets axe the ASH/ASR! This is still 25SSR and there are still people wanting to race it as such. Pulling the restrictor merely let a little safer (bigger) boat be run without a penalty Making the Yamato dominant on purpose? WTF? I want the Yamato in there as it certainly helps boat counts and makes the racing more interesting. Do I think the current 25 yamato weight is a little low, yes I do. We shouldn't all have to hire out A drivers or buy carbon boats to be competitive. Neither my dainty figure nor my bank account will allow me to do that. Little guy=little boat. Big guy=big boat. I'm just saying lets make the class for the body size it was intended. I have no doubt that Smokin Joe will most likely whoop the field no matter what happens and what engine he runs, but lets get the field a little more level. Truely, I like Matt's idea off adding 30lbs to the Yamato. Sounds like it would make it just about right.
