As long as you have been around boat racing you should know how to "wrangle" a pit pass by now.

Let's see.......... You've raced tunnels and outboard hydros...... Inboard hydros next?

Where are your pictures of your tunnel racing days?
    ...

OMC FE/SE powerhead parts for sale. Kurcz ported block, Mod 50 pistons and cylinder head, exhaust, etc.

Hey Dave, yeah its been a while now since I got into boat racing. I think my first OPC race was back in the 70's as a spectator of course My driving days did not start until my last year in high school which was 1980.

On the pit pass thing Bob can tell you it’s a whole different world at an Inboard race. They put up temporary fences etc and really follow strict rules when it comes to pit passes. You can’t just walk into the pits all willy nilly like we do at our Stock races.

        • yeah I know, I used to race 2.5 and 7 litre for a number of years.... Started outboards, wnet to inboards. When my son was old enough got back into outboards when he started racing J and now going back to inboards.

You are absolutely right about the fencing etc.... but not to worry we will take care of you with passes at Cambridge!

Blackwell Racing Boats, fast boats built slow. lol

That's Slippery in the background, doing good, getting ready for back surgery (2 compound fractures), blood transfusion (ongoing cancer/chemo treatment) and a pending law suit from a car wreck (on the way to a boat race 2 years ago).

              • Gorgeous Roper!

                Great Job, Marc!

Can't wait to hear how Swan does at the Divisionals. He has the entire Team Roper behind him (way back but there in spirit). Nothing short of a total dominating victory will be accepted! (Ok maybe we can negociate that one).

                • something new, something not so new

Picture 1 is Mike Perman in Moby Grape Racing's take on an MJR kit (MGR?). Picture 2 is Ryan Johnson in a more mature MJR (fresh paint and hardware) that I understand Marc built for himself originally (then to Wartinger, then to Nilsen).

                  • Wow.

Wow, look at that MGR go!!! lol By the way Mike, you did have the name right. For all the rest of you, thats our 5th effort. It was a bit of a challenge to get done because I'm in Ellensburg at CWU training to be a pilot, and we helped out with the H.A.R.M. project on Saturdays. But as always we got it done.

                    Have a good racing season,
                    Mike 32-R

                        • Background

There was a time back in the early 90's when people would only purchase boats made from certain people with certain names, so I selected a name as a marketing project, that had nothing to do with my name to see if anyone would buy them, it worked.

Now I just call them MJR composites, there is no more Roper.

That name may be gone but the legend lives on!

It had something to do with honky-tonks and a lot of cool malt beverages...

Marc - would you like to elaborate any more?

                              • Roper . . .

I thought "Roper" had something to do with ropes and fur lined handcuffs...
