MIKES GOT (new) WOOD
Blackwell Racing Boats is cranking (slowly churning? ) out a CSH/OSY.
Started in early December, here's the progress so far.
The bottom, cockpit sides, dash and transom are a balsa core composite that were vacuum bagged.

Dave,
There are a couple of reasons I incorporated a setback into this OSY/CSH hull. Primarily, by moving the weight of the outboard farther aft has the effect of lightening the bow. Combining this with ultralight construction methods to keep the bow light allows the hull to break free from the water early out of the corner and provides excellent acceleration. The second benefit is the ability to shim the engine higher (in relation to the bottom) while still being able to pump water on a Yamato. It also makes the boat effectively longer and provides more stability.
This is not a new concept and some builders use it today, but it may be less noticeable as they are just using a steeper transom angle. Ed Karelsen does this. In the past, Ed has used this on his D Hydros but with an even more dramatic set back. When there weren't height restrictions, this would allow an engine to be shimmed quite high while still providing the control and stability needed.

New Myers CSH/OSY400
Well, the advantage to a 3:30 start time for a football game on TV is that we have plenty of time in the morning to go testing.
This weekend, it was JW Myers' new CSH/OSY boat, a composite sled that was very light and very fast out of the box.
J Michael came out with his CSH to compare it with, and Jimi Oberto can be witnessed in the patrol boat out on the lake. A nice way to spend Sunday Morning: At the Church of the Cosmic Sponson.

All those boats may be nice for you guys so here's one for the other sex. Its a Formula E Hydro for Vicki Smith. She got into FEH last year, purchasing a used rig and having some modest success with it. This year she is getting serious and has the crew busy with her new toy.

Sam, you still have the same fridge in the shop as you did when I was there in 1986? You still drink Groelsh?
made a trip to St.Louis and returned with a "kit" E-Mod for Mark E , Another motor being built for an un named driver and Lots of parts for 4 Cyl MODs up here. Also thanks to Connie and Terry Payn for the hospitality on the way down and back, wish I could have stayed longer. Connie is a great Cook.
