  • John and Albert Snell's Status in Texas

I talked with John Snell at 7 PM Sat in Jasper, Texas at Albert's. John said that Rita was the worst storm he and Albert had ever experienced. Albert has a tree limb through the roof of his house and they have had some roof damage to the larger family home on the same property but all are OK. John does not know the status of his and Dottie's house in Niederland and probably won't be able to return there for 3 or 4 days. John did say that Cleabern Phelps also has a limb through the roof on his house. The power is out in Jasper but the phone is still working. He did mention that only 2 other times has he seen the nearby creeks as high as they are now but they are high and dry. He was in good spirits but I know they are under a lot of stress due to the situation.

Sorry that I don't have the word on anyone else. Jack Stotts

        Update

I talked to Albert this morning and they are ok but suffering from the heat. No power yet and he thinks it will be 2 more weeks before they get power. John and Dottie are still there with him in Jasper TX, can't go back to Nederland yet. He says the biggest problem is trying to sleep at night with it in the high 90's, house never cools of at night. All the raceboats and motors are ok some of them got wet from rain.
