  • Franklin Mod Nat'ls Thank you's

Since this is really the first chance I've had in the last 2 weeks (Mod then Stock Nationals) to sit down at the computer, I wanted to thank the TRORA crew who put on the Mod Nat'ls. This was a relatively small group of workers who took on many tasks to make this race come off. Even though it was slightly smaller than they would have liked almost all classes had full fields and there was some really good racing. Once again, most of the "pre-race" hype about the course or pits never really became an issue.

The banquets were layed back/pinic style and had good food and entertainment (Racer's Auction Brian Williams as Pat Sajak and Sean Augustine as Vanna White). It was also a nice touch including a picture from inspection in each plaque for those who placed.

Mostly, I want to thank the many people who almost 'adopted' my 4.5 year son during the days when I was busy racing. Augustine's (Sean and Denise?), Janet Stoy (who I'd never met before this weekend) and Mary Williams made sure he stayed out of trouble, watched over him and even fed him. It is very reassuring when you have a "second family" to help out and pick up the slack where two men (me and my dad) couldn't quite make up.

During the banquets the "older" kids (Tiffany Williams, Tyler Rice, Ashley Gresley, and Jonathan Brewster) kept the gang of 4-7 years olds under control and made sure they had fun while again allowing me (dad) to hang out with the other racers. This is pne of the many reasons why boat racing is so great and why Nikolas had such a great time during the Mod Nat'ls.

Brian let AJ and Sean let Eileen know that Nik had a great time playing with them and wouldn't stop talking about them for the next few days.

        Tee shirts

        Matt,

The tee shirts have been ordered and as soon as they are done will be delivered. We are hoping for Lock Haven, but that depends on when the shirts are done. I will make sure that everyone who ordered one and paid for it receives their shirt. I have a list, I know who you are, and I won't forget you. If they aren't done by Lock Haven, there is always the US mail.

Thanks to everyone who bought shirts. Nate Forhsey did a fantastic job on the design!!!

          Mark,
Glad you and Nik enjoyed yourselves. The Pre-race and Race Committee put in a ton of work to make Franklin an enjoyable, layedback, "Fun" Nationals and I hope we succeeded. And while a few extra bodies to help work would have made everybody happier, the group that were there did everything that could possible be asked for to put on a topshelf event. And while a few extra boats and trailers would have been nice, the entire group that went to Franklin put on one heck of a show. Deck to Deck racing in every heat and most winners decided on either points or time, showed how tough and close the competition was and made for an exciting week.

As for the evening activities, we would like to thank Jerry Brewster for organizing the Fiesta Night and to everyone who brought something and joined in on the fun. As for the auction, a HUGH thank you to all the sponsors who donated goods and services and to the drivers and crew who participated. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did being the auctioneer. (and a special Thanks to "Vanna" for his help and to my "fan club" for taking the shirt off my back)

I too would like to thank Sean & Denise Augustine and Aunt Janet, the Rices and eveybody else for all the help they provided in keeping eyes on the herd. I haven't seen that many kids playing in the water, digging in the sand and having just a ball since Mark and I were young (younger . . . maybe?).

So for the entire Mod Nationals Team and TRORA, we thank everyone who came to race with us and we hope you come back again.

I for one had an awesome time at the Mod Nats. I'd like to thank Brian Williams, Jerry Brewster, Charlie Gonyea, TRORA, all of the race directors, Race committee, Shannon Hoover, Harriett Thompson, Nate Forshey for the shirt designs, and all of the people who volunteered on the judges stand and patrol boats. All of the dinners were great and everything was very well put together. Thanks again to everyone who helped! sorry if I forgot anyone!

            thanks, allie

I would like to thank everyone who made the mod nationals possible. I know it takes a ton of work to put on a nationals. The fiesta night was awesome. To all of those who brought food, I did not taste a bad item. People always ask me why I would drive 16 hours for a boat race. I tell them the Nationals is like a family reunion that you actually look forward to seeing everyone. I did not order a t-shirt, but if it is not too late I would like to buy one or two. Let me know.

                  t-shirts

Hey Jeff/Mary.....I,too,didn't get around to getting an order in for t-shirt
and sure would love to add one to my collection. Think that with people
scrambling to get things together for Dayton that there are probably a lot
more that missed out on the order and would like to have a chance to
get one. Let us know......I need an X-Large if you are going to re-order.

                  Thanx,
                  Ron (the good Sax)

Many names have been mentioned that went into helping put the Mod Nats together. I'd like to mention a few more.

Steve & Dylan Justice were on-site Tues night and stayed all week! Steve is our Treasurer and was at registration Wednesday. Steve also is our radio man. He is responsible for charging them every night and we never have to worry about them. Dylan assisted with J propellers, registration and the radios as well. I can't thank you guys enough.

One of the hardest workers of the week was my brother, Jon Brewster. He was the crazy guy without a shirt on all week running around with a radio in his hand. He drove the rescue equip to the site Tuesday and worked his a$$ off all week long. He never even got to go for a boat ride. He helped set things up, tear them down, did patrol boats, and was the pit boss for the majority of the event. Very much appreciated bro!

And of course to all the others mentioned earlier, I appreciate all your hard work. You will be recognized at our Fall Banquet Nov. 5th in Sharon, PA near Franklin.
