  • 1959 Sid Craft

I may have access to what I believe may be Jim Colburn's 1959 Sid Craft AOH. It has been in dry storage for at least 40 years. I have yet to see it but would like to make the guy a reasonable offer if ot looks OK. Does anyone know what would be a rasonable offer. Give me a ballpark figure.

    Thanks, Phil Doerle

Phil hard to say what its worth but does have some history to it. Used boats dont bring to much unless it has a history to it.If its still the way it was when Jim had it it should have an orange painted deck with 202-J in silver and Madline his wifes name painted on it. The rest of the boat should be natural and there is a picture of it on my web site Dad drove it some with Jims A Konig and he drove it at the Nats in 1960 with a 20-H and placed second with it.

The typical ebay price is $400 for a very good older boat

I have seen old hydros go for up to $400 of $500, but I have also seen old hydros just in the way of the owner and if you would haul it away they would be grateful. Check out the condition, talk to the owner and see what he is looking to get, and make him an offer taking into consideration how bad he wants to sell and what you can afford to invest. That way everyone walks away friends.

Condition and brand have a lot to do with the price..... A boat that's in good condition will, naturally, bring more than one that is about rotted out. Also, a boat that was made in high volume won't bring as much as one that only a few were made. What's easier to find: a Swift?, a Sid? or a Jones????

Phil this is what the boat should look like if its still the way Jim had it. Hard to tell the color in the one color shot and the other two are black and whites. Man I held that up enough times as a kid getting that konig started.
