Just wondering

Is that all the classes you had at that race if so how does your club afford the saction?

At Rock Falls we have a partial sponsor (very small) and we hope our other 2 races - DePue and Rochelle will help make up the difference. Not sure though, we might be in the red when it is all said and done.

Too bad the turnout was so bad, with the low water level in the river and favorable breezes, we had good water both days.

Rock Falls

Hi Paul, I'm a Paul too!

I am fairly new as a racer but have been a fan for quite a while.
From what I've heard, Rock Falls can have weird water.
Might be some of the turn off from attendance. This year the water was great!

Spectator attendance was poor compared to last year which is pretty tough on the only sponsor which needs to sell food and drinks for it's fund raiser.

The question is ..... How easy is it to get new places to race? (Environmentalists, regulators, home owners, etc) If you give up a venue, will you ever get it back? Odds are, probably not. So ..... as in any club or organization there is a "Core Group" that sees the "Big Picture."

I was proud to be part of that group trying to keep it alive. Hopefully others understand the fight to keep race sites alive and will participate when they can. And if they have a place that is struggling, hopefully others will join them if they can.

No easy answer. Well, actually the answer is easy, money to the racers, but this is not easily solved in a depressed community when you rely on others to do the promoting for attendance.

Paul, If you have any ideas that you think would be helpful I am sure they would be appreciated.
