How long should I wait?

Sent the motors and agreed to take payment after they were recieved. Checked this person out and they are well known and respected, so I thought this would be OK. My question is, what do you think a fair amount of time is to get payment? Starting the third month with no $$$ in hand.

I would say three months puts you well beyond "fair amount of time". I would have expected nothing less than immediate payment. It almost sounds like they never had the money to begin with. Unfortunately you're relying on a verbal agreement and someone’s reputation.

I would threaten exposure on this site. Might help. One thing it will accomplish is anyone one of us selling to that party without payment first.

Bust them

In our slowly shrinking sport we can't afford this negative impact. I say bust them now, and turn them into a collections agencey, or get a Lawyer to put a lein on something they own. Don't wait.

I would have expected payment right away, or at the very least a phone call to explain why and if it is a valid reason give them a break. Otherwise we don't need this kind of dealing in boat racing.

I think Dave hit on the fix, let us know what area of the country he is in and we can place a lot of pressure on him.
