  • A Racer Remembered

I just wanted to take a moment to remember my friend. I think of you every morning as I go through my daily duties at work around the time each day
that he would call to talk about anything (usually racing).
I think about the big grin on his face, and his laugh that never seemed to
disappear. He was the kind of man that was always there for anyone in need
friend or stranger. He loved his wife, he loved the sport, he loved life.
The love he shared with his friends is what I miss the most.
Brandt Hilsen you are always in my thoughts and Prayers.
God Bless you and your family and friends.

Well said Dennis. I had a couple of moments at Williamsport this weekend where I found myself just looking around at the river, the pits, and my wife, and smiling. This is what he loved, the thrill of competition, freindship, family, and most of all his wife. Brandt was the one that kind of gave me the little shove I needed to pursue my wife the night I first met her(at the Fallon). Thanks Brandt, and God Bless You.

      More About Brandt

      Dennis,

Just so you know, Shawn Breisacher began the driver's meeting on Friday by saying "we lost a good friend here last year" and requested a moment of silence.

After the catered group dinner on Friday, Jack Crain introduced the Brandt Hilsen Performance Award (I hope I remembered the name correctly) to the crowd and had the trophy passed table to table so we could each hold it and read the inscription.

Would someone provide details on who won this award Saturday and explain why he or she was chosen?

        Outstanding!

I really wanted to go to Williamsport, race Brandt's boat and win one for
him there. Just couldn't make it happen. I like the trophy's name, look forward to the day I can earn it!
Spoke to Gina Friday night, she is with Brandt's family in Fla.
Gina, Vince, Patty, and his brother and sister are doing well.
Gina has moved into a new home, found a new chuch she likes,
        and sounds very upbeat.
Vince has started a new business and is doing well, as well is Brandt's
        mother Patty.
I am glad someone had a moment at the race in his memory.
I have been asked for more of the decals given out at last years Nationals.
I will have more made and have them at Franklin, and Dayton.

Brandt.... Thank you for looking over my shoulder this year and giving me
the inspiration to excel at every race. You will be with me everywhere I
        go.

            Decals

I still have several of the round white stickers with the hand grenade and black lettering on them. Anyone who would like some, e-mail me your name and address and let me know how many you want, and I will mail them to you.

Mark, The Brandt Hilsen Peformance was awarded to the winner of CSH for Saturday. It was given to Chuck Renner, and it happened to be his first ever CSH victory. I felt the award should go to the driver who won the class Brandt raced in.

                Scott,
That is great, and just an interesting bit of information.
Chuck was driving my RunneCraft that
I sold to him so I could race Brandt's RunneCraft that he was driving
                at Williamsport.
