  • In need of a water pump for an Evinrude

We are in need of a water pump for an Evinrude omcA 15 horse motor (1986). It's called an Impeller Assembly and spline the part # is 398005. Tom Cronk recommended Cooper Jess, but we need his phone # or a way to get a hold of him. My son Brennen runs KPROH with the USTS and we will need to have the part so we can put his motor back together before Constantine in July. Any help would be great!

    Bill:

If you are unable to find one before Constantine, let me know and I will bring a gearcase off of Lauren's J hydro for you to use for the 2 races.

hey Coop, I am curious, is the water pump impeller rubber, like the Mercs and such? I just wondered how they could last so long, consider I watch LOTS of racers running their 15's out of the water (like a Yamato) with no water input.......

yes, water pump is some sort of resiliant material AKA rubber . . .

Running one dry, like a bare-shaft waerm up on the beach, isn't good for the blades and causes premature wear. But the engine would cool just fine during a race without the impeller even being there, so why worry about wearing out the blades? Of course, for stock classes the inspector might flunk an engine that just has the impeller nubs left. You're call . . .

Thanks for all of the info.

Thanks guys for all of the information about the water pump for my son's KPRO hydro. My husband will be calling Cooper Jess today, he's fairly close to us which should make getting the part easier. Thanks again for all of your help!!
