Can anyone tell me what kind of Capsule Training requirements you must have to race a capsule boat at the nationals this year? If you have had the swimming pool training several years ago or even wrecked a capsule boat a couple of times and made it out OK, does this still meet the requirements?

The rule book states you must have a witnessed exit from the capsule by a diver and the referee and a certificate saying so. The certificate is good for 2 years. You cannot register at a race if you are not current. There is info on the APBA website and the requirements are in the rule book.

Let me give Paulie Bosnich a call to see if Black Diamond divers will be doing certifications in DePue. We just did some last weekend. Also...look at the APBA website or call HQ and see if there is a way to certify at a local dive shop....I know some drivers who have done that...if you do make sure to get the proper paperwork to carry with you.
Call Gloria at APBA HQ for more info.

More on the Dunk Test Requirements
E-mail I received from Gloria Urbin, Subject: Re: Capsule Dunk Test
No, you can't get a dunk test certificate from a local dive shop. They are not APBA members, knowledgeable in our requirements and would not have a capsule available for the test. They obviously can certify people with diving equipment but not for the "dunk" test.

Some dive shops work with Rescue personnel and do have mock capsules to do dunk testing. The one I referenced to obtained the proper paperwork from APBA.
