Folks,
After much thought I think I've reached a compromise about how I can share my photos with the world and not go completely broke in the process.
I bought a new camera just in time for Camden, NC with the theory that "better equipment = better pictures". For what I paid the camera gear I could have bought another racing engine. But I choose the camera instead. It gives me and my son something to do when we’re not busy with the race boat.
We already have access via this forum to great boat racing photos by amateurs and professionals alike. And I don't want to compete head-to-head with any of them. I've spent hours looking at all their photos and I love having free access.
So here's my compromise. I plan on using a photo site that allows free viewing of all the photos. View all you want at no charge. Each photo has a "watermark" in the corner, not smack in the middle, so you can enjoy looking at all of the photos.
If you download the low resolution photo without paying, the watermark stays in the corner and those who see it will know that you didn't pay. Let your conscience be your guide.
If you buy the image, the watermark is removed, and you’ll receive a high resolution digital image by email. The image quality is excellent for prints of at least 8x10, with up to 13x19 possible with only some loss in quality.
What I'll sell is the digital image itself, but for personal use only. You can have your prints made anywhere you want, from any photo lab you want, now or in the future. I don't want to be the middle man on print making. More details will follow.
I haven’t figured out a final price yet but I expect it to be in the $15 range with discounts for multiple orders.
I hope to have the best photos from Camden posted by the end of the week. Stay tuned.
And yes, I have “the shot” of Dave Howard’s flip on Sunday. His dad has already contacted me about it.
So Fast Jack…..is this photo, in high resolution, worth $15 to you??? (click image for larger version)
