Hey Everyone!
I just wanted to let you in on a little deal we started up here in Canada and nearby US states last year. It’s called the:
Meals on Wheels Charity Race Series
And was presented by our Title Sponsor - Videolink.ca
You may have seen the link to it in my signature over the last year or so, or banners at the races, or decals on the participating boats.
What it was is a separate points race series that was hosted at races all within 7 hours of one another. There were 13 days of racing scheduled and your best 10 races counted.
We raced at:
Franklin, PA
Waterford, ON
Almonte, ON
Long Sault, ON
Redwood, NY
Ford City, PA (canceled due to storms)
The points system pitted all classes in the Stock, Mod and PRO divisions against one another. It also had handicaps in it if you only had few boats in your class so everything was pretty equal for people racing in classes with lots of boats and those with a few boats. It worked out great as the top 6 racers all were within reaching distance of first place to the last weekend. And had the participating drivers signed up at the beginning of the Series, the top 25 drivers were in contention for first place at the last event.
The deal was $1000 in prizes/cash to the racers in the top 10 positions with first getting $500 and 50% of all cash raised went to the Meals On Wheels Charity with a minimum of $500 being donated. This is what we promised. It turned out to be a huge success and we raised $770 for charity and $1350 for prizes. We meet all our promised payouts and continued to payout until the 25th position!
We had about 55 entries in the Series. And tracked every single race entry who went to one of those Series races. This was done to kind of rub in the fact to those that didn’t join the series, how well they would have done. For example, the driver who collected the most points wasn’t in the Series and lost out on $500. That driver has already paid for 2005, haha. We tracked 365 drivers at those events.
So I’d like to say THANKS to everyone who helped in key ways like James Misener, Ross Webster, Dean Neumann and other I’m not thinking of at the moment and of course all the great people and companies who sponsored the events in 2004!
