how is the new warning light project coming?

  • #2
    progress is slow

I have finally made the first light out of aluminum. It looks just like I had
hoped it would.(something that will survive for many years)
I am still dissatisfied with the light suppliers, the prices I have been given
are inconsistent and not where I want to buy them for.
I have found wholesale sources for all the other materials to produce the
lights and have purchased initial production amounts.

I have found that turning an idea into a marketable product is more difficult
than I could have imagined, at least to keep them reasonably priced.

Now if everyone had lots of money and cost was not an issue I could have
10 to 15 ready by middle March, but I am working hard to get the costs
down to keep the price for each "DSL" (Driver Signal Light) as low as I can make it.
I have been asked how much for one right now?
At the current time the aluminum pole DSL would sell for $449.00.
At the current time I am still working to reduce that price, but if anyone is anxious to get one I can produce them right now, just remember that if I am
successful in my efforts to reduce the cost I don't want any hard feelings
    when the price comes down.
I am currently working with a potential new manf. for the pole and waiting for
a response to the drawing I submitted.
I will post pictures of the new light once I have it wired and mounted on a
    boat to illustrate it better.
I plan to bring at least 2 of my working prototypes to Ocoee to test thier effectiveness.
If you have any questions or comments you can email me at eastard@earthlink.net if you want to call me send me an email and I will send you my number.
Hope I have answered some of the questions, and thank you for the tremendous interest in this new product.

pretty much all of the above and boat wrecks too

used in conjuction with flags ( at least to start with) but it consistes of strobe lights like for a state highway truck ect. with lenses the colors of the flags.
on top the patrol boats and at the judges stand ( the thought being they will grab the drivers attintion more readly than flags ) i for one LOVE the idea

hope this works Ron if not the thread was driver alert system

            no title

            Ron,

            To explain---
If you recall we lost Brandt Hilsen this summer at Williamsport.
Brandt was a very good driver, but even the best of us miss flags on the
racecourse, and it is my opinion after lots of questioning and soul searching
that what happened is he missed a flag and the result was tragic.
Brandt was one of my best friends and losing him is a pain I will never
            lose.
I felt I had to do something to keep that sort of accident from happening
again and one night I was Blessed (if you will) with an idea.
I constructed a Lighting system representing the colors of our flags that
could be operated in the turns and from the judges stand that will be
many times more visible and many times faster for the drivers to see.
Each light is 100,000 candlepower, and flashes over 100 times a minute.
Now I think you might agree that when you have been on the road you
are not looking for warning lights or emergency vehicles however somehow
the flashing light always found your eye.
            The same principle applies.
I presented my prototype and idea at the National meeting and the response was overwhelming.
I went to submit an idea, I returned with a mission to respond to all the
            requests for the light system.
This is a personal project that I hope will save lives in the future and
yes hopefully it will warn drivers of Alligators, snakes, and Jack Asses and
anything else that Drivers need to know of on the racecourse!!!!!
If I sound a might peeved well I take this project very seriously and if I
misunderstood your humour please accept my apology.

              I like the strobe idea!
I ran dirt track / street stock 1975-1986. All tracks have lights along with flags.

Dennis you might want to check at a couple tracks or some auto racing mags or web sights.

19P Look me up at Ocoee if you need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
