I think it would be interesting to see a few more vintage stock races.Anyone into snowmobiles knows that the vintage scene is hotter than ever.Their is even a vintage world championship in Eagle River Wis and they race hard.Their has to be some guys on this site that have a smokin vintage motor in their garage just waiting to race again.Oh well it was just a thought.Take it easy,Bob

One reason that I think it may not be such a good idea to have vintage boats racing with a regularly sanctioned race is the added potential for mishaps when the numbers are increased. I wouldn't like it very much if non-competative boats were clogging up the first turn or increasing the chop in the turn when I'm trying to place/win.

In Eastern Ontario (Canada) we run the D Classic and C Classic and B Classic classes. They are legal classes in CBF, you can run for points etc..... We run them at Long Sault Sept 10/11, Sydenham Ontario (late August) and Almonte Ontario (Mid May).
The D Classic Class gets about 8+ boats per weekend, and put on a great show. They follow the old class rules and follow existing safety rules (cut suits, kill switches etc.......)
So in this are the Vintage rigs are alive, well and racing......

oh yea baby!!
I'm all over that. let me know were and when and I'll get the old shovelnose hydro down out of the rafters, might even have a smoke'n Merc or two laying arround. We should organize a "test fest" for the good old stuff...???Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most.

Classic "B" race
Gents,
I have inquired about running Classic "B" runabout and Classic "B" hydro at this years Zanesville race on 23-24 July. The Indiana Outboard Association officials have told me that it might be done if the sanction process could be approved. My thought was to run it as a "memorial event" to honor some pretty famous oldtimers from Region 3,6, 7 that have raced "B" Mercury's and Hot Rods in the 60's, 70's and early 80's. Essentially, I thought to run Hydro's on one day and runabouts the next day. I have a $500 sponsor already lined up for this years innaugural demonstration race if it goes. My hope was to honor a different 'old' driver each year and bring him to the race to tell lies and meet some of today's racers.
Rules on boats, boat numbers, engine configurations, kill switches, cut-suits, etc should be as close to current APBA standards as possible so that it doesn't hold up the sanction process and getting insurance.
If we can get enough interet generated here on hydroracer.net I'll follow through with Steve Roskowski at IOA and put it on the dance card. Feedback ? Whaddya' think? Mike Marshall, Raceboat61-S (Rinker runabout, MK 20H)

my thought was more in the lines of classes that are short on numbers now and that it might make better racing from the spectators perspective ( one of the problems that have been commented on alot)
but if you have a full field it most likely would result in chaos
