My son wants to start racing this year.Jsh/Jsr.My problem is what do i buy,some say merc,some say omc.Now hot rod is coming into the picture.Wow Just want the boy to have fun

OMC or Merc ... whichever you can most easily acquire. He will have fun regardless of which engine you start with.

Merc's have proven to be very strong in both the J class and the AXS class. They are also a newer motor and parts are available pretty much off the shelf at any Merc dealer.

Good to see you're still around. My advice for 'J' is get a Merc. Brand new and no hassles. Plus, they are faster than the OMC's.

By the time your kid is ready for 'A', the Hot Rod will probably be the engine of the class.
